GMB Dynamic Models for the PSS™ Product Suite
Accurate power system planning requires that precise models be used in the dynamic simulation of a network. Siemens PTI is now offering predefined dynamic model packages for use in PSS™ software. These models are defined in Block Oriented Simulation Language (BOSL) and have been created using the Graphical Model Builder (GMB), a powerful and easy-to-use dynamic model development tool.
For PSS™E users these "user-drawn" models are available in addition to their well-proven standard models and "user-written" models (Fortran).
The GMB Models provide advantages over table-driven and Fortran-based user models:
No Fortran complier needed to create user-sepcific dynamic models
BOSL models can be tested "off-line" in graphical environment
Measuring / observation points can be added graphically, for offline test via GMB as well as online test via PSS™E result plots
The user can easily modify and / or extend a model from the library and save it as a user model
In case of any changes, the GMB model documentation is automatically updated
BOSL models can easily be shared among different users
Graphical Model Builder (GMB) |
The GMB is a stand-alone model builder and testing environment that can generate dynamic models for use in the following PSS™ software tools:
PSS™E
PSS™SINCAL
PSS™NETOMAC
GMB uses Mircosoft® Viso® to easily create dynamic models. With Visio®, the GMB is an easy-to-use tool for fast implementation, editing and documentation of such models.
GMB Dynamic Model Packages |
The following dynamic model packages are currently available:
Package "Free_License"
The GMB model package "Free_License" is a set of 4 excitation systems (AVRs) and 2 turbine governors (GOVs). This Package is available for free and it also contains a free runtime license for the use of BOSL models in PSS™ E.
Package "Standard-1"
For the latest versions of our PSS™ software, we are offering "Standard-1", a library of 36 excitation systems (AVRs) and 20 turbine governors (GOVs). This package is offered as yearly lease or perpetual lease.
After licensing GMB (full license), the user can modify the data and structure of each model and thus has a very flexible, "user-drawn" controller library.
In future versions the GMB Model Package "Standard-1" will be extended by some excitation limiters, power system stabilizers (PSS) and compensators (COMP). Also additional GMB Model Packages "Standard-2" and "Standard-2" with further AVRs, GOVs, PSSs, COMPS and more sophisticated and special models will follow, such as Turbine Load Controllers, FACTS and DC-lines.
