Embedding decentralized or dispersed generators such as wind farms off- and on-shore in power systems requires customized solutions for grid access.

Feasibility studies (e.g. on power quality, system reliability and availability as well as for power reserves) are complemented by investment cost investigation for the various interconnection alternatives.

Specific attention is paid to intelligently designing the "collection systems" at the medium-voltage level, which is followed by the high-voltage transmission system offering grid access.

By relying on both AC and DC transmission technologies, Siemens can offer tailormade solutions at both high- and medium-voltage levels. The technical constraints on decentralized generating units in connection with AC cables are well known and addressed accordingly.
