Spectrum PowerCC Energy Control/SCADA

Description

Description

Spectrum PowerCC EC - matching the challenges of industrial power supply Competition in the industry leads to increased cost pressure, which forces many companies to implement savings measures, including the area of energy supply. These could include, for example, reduced shifts in the control center at night or on weekends. The energy market, which as a result of liberalization is subject to increased dynamics and complexity, also has consequences for industrial power supply. By monitoring and control of the energy supply and the peak load, your costs can be reduced and your power production can be optimized.

Spectrum PowerCC EC is state of the art, easy-to-use response to these new challenging business cases. MS like 'Look & Feel' provides for reliable monitoring and power flow control within the utility. Spectrum PowerCC EC optimizes energy purchase using sophisticated demand side management. Peak load conditions are avoided, and energy costs are minimized.

Overview

Spectrum PowerCC EC - a real highlight of your power supply system

Spectrum PowerCC Energy Control for industrial networks assists you with the operation. It includes an innovative modular product concept based on the latest software technology and provides the complete range of functions for an industrial control center. The state-of-the-art technology of Spectrum PowerCC EC supports and integrates leading industry products and many industrial standards, both current and under development. The modular product concept and reduced installation effort ensure timely delivery. As far as costs are concerned, Spectrum PowerCC EC is a star performer: data entry, data maintenance and system uprading are extremely easy to carry out. The use of standard software and hardware ensures further redurction of costs and closes the gap between energy management and the IT environment of your company.

Siemens has put considerable R & D effort into the design, development and realization of a brand new control system, based on MS Windows and standard PC's. Standard RTU transmission protocols like IEC 60870-5-101 and 104 provide for low cost integration of substation and switchyard equipment. OPC client/server configurations allow simple to implement solutions for access to field devices, like gas valves, water pumps and reservoir level indicators. Spectrum PowerCC EC is fully integrated into the MS Windows environment. This outstanding design guarantees smooth integration into the enterprise office and information technology world.

Spectrum PowerCC EC includes new and field proven applications to ensure reliable operation. Main features, among others, are:

Functions

Spectrum PowerCC EC is the right platform for large energy consumers to optimize their energy purchases and to provide uninterrupted power supply.

Contracts for primary energy delivery will be exploited to the maximum benefit of the utility. Demand side management, for both gas and electricity, will avoid peaks of load consumption and also control the generation units in order to avoid energy purchase violations.

Realtime data are acquired via RTU's from substations devices, like switches, transformers, generators and via OPC servers in industrial field devices, like valves or pumps. ICE 60870-5-101 and 104 are preferred RTU transmission protocols . However, a significant collection of legacy protocols, like Sinaut 8FW, TG 809, CDC II, DNP 3.0 and others, are available. Spectrum PowerCC EC offers OPC clients to interoperate with OPC servers that are collecting the field data via fieldbuses, such as Profibus.
